The Ragdoll Qualities
It takes a huge, gorgeous ragdoll cat until they are around four years old to achieve their maximum weight of roughly fifteen pounds. The ragdoll’s gregarious nature and laid-back demeanor make them amiable to almost everybody. They’ll flop like a mop on your legs during long lap cuddle sessions, so go ready for enthusiastic belly rubs. Snuggle time is vital for ragdolls, but neither vigorous exercise nor boisterous playtime are necessary.
They are respectful of youngsters and make wonderful, caring companions for people. They can also get along with other household pets if introduced properly. In general, they are drawn to their humans and prefer to be close to their families.
Background of the Ragdoll
Ann Baker created ragdolls in California during the 1960s.1. Her goal was to produce a gorgeous cat with a caring disposition. She began by breeding other cats that she either owned or discovered with a domestic long-haired white cat of unknown origin that she named Josephine.
It took several generations, but in the end Baker gave birth to the first cats she named ragdolls. These cats were prized for their enormous size, gregarious dispositions, and non-matting fur.
Ragdoll registration was initiated by the Cat Fanciers Association (CFA) in 1993. Every year, ragdolls rank among the most popular cat breeds that are registered with the CFA.
